New York Times bestselling fantasy author Anne Bishop joins RoberCon’s line-up of featured guests. Her list of creations include the Black Jewels series, the Others series, the Tir Alainn trilogy, and more. Anne will be appearing Saturday and Sunday, participating in panel discussions and signings.
Some of her worlds delve into alternative fiction. Most notably of these is her Others series, which imagines a dark world where humans, vampires, werewolves, and other creatures all live alongside one another in divided communities. Separate, but not equal by any stretch of the imagination. She even goes so far to tell a very different story of the landing at Plymouth rock where humans who overstepped their bounds ended up between the jaws of an Other.
We hope RoberCon guests will have the opportunity to visit Anne’s lush, and often dark worlds, full of lore and women discovering its dangers and its possibilities for the first time. Her character’s must navigate through dissonant worlds, while finding their power.
Urban fantasy provides such a lush environment for writers, blending mythology, history, lore, and a lot of asking “what if…?” Juxtaposing the real and fantastical to create new towns, landscapes, and cultures. We hope budding writers will join us and explore these nuances because you really can start from a place of “write what you know” all while diving into new and unknown–twisting the familiar into something uncanny.
Register now for RoberCon, which takes place September 29 – 30 in Binghamton, NY.
