This guide wouldn’t have been possible if not for the amazing geeks of Binghamton. While crafting it, I started out with a list of 15 things and it quickly expanded to this list of shops, museums, and groups you see before you. I’m sure with everyone’s help it will continue to grow.
Why put this thing together? Simple, to let people know there’s something for everyone in the Binghamton-area.
Define “geeky”: Anything that diverts from convention or has a niche appeal.
Looking For Group (LFG)
Silent Book Club Reading shouldn’t feel like it’s homework. The Silent Book Club Binghamton Chapter is a meetup about sharing what we’re reading, making friends, and then chilling out comfortably with your new favorite book for and hour. We meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month at a local establishment (preferably one with coffee or some kind of nourishment).
Parlor City Cosplay Coalition A place in which Cosplayers from the Broome/Tioga area can share tips, ideas, get help, meet other cosplayers and get involved in the local community.
NaNoWriMo Binghamton November is National Novel Writing Month, so what better time to do something crazy, like write 50,000 words in 30 days? This local group is here to help.
Binghamton Amature Radio Association Meetings are held monthly and with the only pre-requisite being an interest in Amateur Radio!
The Bier Club Join other brewers in the Binghamton-Endicott region and talk beer!
Triple Cities Makerspace You want to learn how to make it? This is the space to do it. Whether you’re craft be sewing, wood-working, 3D printing, or welding, the Makerspace has something for you. Stop in during an open house night on Tuesday after 6:30pm.
TriCities LARP Meeting on the first and third Saturday of every month, (barring holiday breaks), this community comes together for dramatic role play with the Minds Eye Theater Werewolf the Apocalypse system, as well as occasional horror games based on HP Lovecraft and Call of Cthulhu.
Binghamton Area Tabletop Society The sole purpose of BATS is to provide a regular, safe, and public environment for people to play tabletop games together. This group is filled with welcoming individuals with a crazy-amazing knowledge of board games.
Binghamton Pinball League Want to play pinball with other people that like pinball? Then you have found your people.
Sacred Grounds LARP Whether new to live-action roleplaying or a veteran adventurer, Sacred Grounds welcomes all. Their game features “A robust Age of Exploration fantasy world with steampunk elements… character options, an exciting and deep in-game economy, and a high quality presentation.”
The Shire of Sterlynge Vayle The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe.
USS Serling The USS Serling is Greater Binghamton’s own chapter of Starfleet.
International Federation of Trekkers USS Vengeance A non-profit Star Trek Fan Club who meet locally in Binghamton, NY.
Carcosa Creations Carcosa Creations is the husband/wife team of Kevin and Kim Kreiner, who have collectively been running Live Action Role Playing games for over a decade.
Two Rivers Point Amtgard boffer LARP meets at Recreation Park on Sunday afternoons.

Lost Dog Cafe 222 Water St, Binghamton, NY This cafe has a certain gravitational pull. It’s a great eatery where people who feel ‘lost’ in Binghamton can feel at home.
Dos Rios Cantina 60 Court St, Binghamton, NY Come for the Mexican food and marvel at the murals that line the walls. Try to find the hidden Lord of the Rings references painted in.
Carousels Location: All over Fun fact: Binghamton is the carousel capital of the world. Complete the quest to ride them all and receive a free patch.

Enter the Twilight Zone Fans of Rod Serling’s work and the Twilight Zone will find several notable spots to visit and pay homage to one of sci-fi’s great storytellers. Devotees will recognize Binghamton’s downtown Boscov’s Department Store and Bus Terminal as inspirations for popular episodes. Plus, check out The Bundy Museum, which is host to a Rod Serling archive.
LUMA Fest (September) Binghamton, NY Three nights of glorious projections and moving pictures mapped onto the buildings in downtown Binghamton.

Twin Tiers Comic Con (November) Right in Elmira, NY Twin Tiers Comic-Con is a 2-day celebration of comics and popular culture in Upstate NY. We spend the weekend showing our love for comics, collectibles, toys, art, writing, games, cosplay, and much more! Special events include autograph signings, guest panels, costume contests, giveaways, and lots of activities for kids and adults alike!
Broome Con (May) Right in Binghamton, NY at the SUNY Broome Ice Center, Broome Con offers a star-studded cast of characters from your favorite franchises. There will be gaming, vendors, cosplay, and more.
Epic Nerd Camp (Summer) Ramblewood, MD This is just too unique I couldn’t leave it out. Get this: relive summer camp as an adult, plus a bunch of nerdy activies (e.g. foam-crafting, swordplay, archery, board games from dawn until ?).
Kopernik Observatory 698 Underwood Rd, Vestal, NY Friday nights are for stargazers at Kopernik. Equipped with 3 observatory and 12 portable telescopes, plus a wealth of programs in between there’s a lot to love about Kopernik.
Roberson Museum and Science Center 30 Front St, Binghamton, NY Home to a number of dynamic exhibits touching on a range of subjects, including ecology and conservation, fine art, and propaganda. There’s a number of intriguing artifacts and stories to hear behind each exhibit, as well as the museum and mansion.
Phelps Mansion 191 Court St, Binghamton, NY Step back to the Gilded Age in one of the last of the remaining high houses on “Mansion Row.” Stop in for a guided tour Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday 11am to 5pm.
The Bundy Museum 129 Main St, Binghamton, NY The Bundy Mansion which sits as the centerpiece of its three-building campus celebrates the self-made man in Binghamton. It’s home to a number of oddities, including a small public radio station and pieces of ‘Twilight Zone’ history.
TechWorks 321 Water Street, Binghamton, NY TechWorks features a facinating collection of technology. The items include everything from an early Link landing simulator to a refurbished IBM printer. But on’t just go to see the collection, hear the stories behind them.
